e-Winch M

The electric winch, made for coastal fishermen that are in longline fisheries, stands out because it eliminates the need for hydraulics on the boat. A battery powered winch means an incredibly quiet fishing operation. This winch also directly addresses the problem the many fisherman face with high noise levels on their boat that can cause hearing harm, especially in those instances where a portable hydraulic power station is used. This design reduces the cost of installation and simplifies it and makes for a a more pleasant working environment on the vessel.

This electric winch is engineered to operate efficiently on a 12 or 24-volt power supply, making it a perfect fit for coastal fishing vessels. The winch is light, but still packs a significant punch in terms of power, and is capable of handling the rigorous demands of longline fishing with ease. A winch that is both easy to handle and remarkably robust.

Small in size, big on power

A slice of quiet

In Greenland, fishermen have coined the term "tinnitus pump" for the hydraulic pump station, and it’s easy to see why. Regular use of these pumps often leads to tinnitus, characterized by a significant decrease in hearing and the incessant sound of ringing that isn’t actually there. To put it bluntly, it's a huge annoyance. All this hassle just to get a couple of sheaves to turn slowly seems like a pretty absurd trade-off to us.

Our goal is to tackle this issue head-on by ditching the noisy hydraulic power station in favor of silent electricity. Thanks to battery power, our solution doesn't make a peep. Combine that with the FOC (Field-Oriented Control) algorithm our machines run on, and you get a winch that’s so quiet, you’ll hear the breeze over it any day.

The end result? Not only do we protect your hearing for the long haul, but we also make your time at sea a whole lot more enjoyable. Imagine being surrounded by nothing but the peace of silence. That’s what we’re offering.

A familiar setup

Instead of rolling out a brand-new design for our e-Winch line, we opted to base it on our most popular winch model. This way, fishermen can dive right in, feeling right at home with the setup and how everything works. It’s also a breeze for those looking to switch from their current hydraulic winch setup to our electric model.

After gathering feedback from fishermen and hearing what they really wanted, one common theme stood out: the shift from stripping pipes at the front to stripping rollers. We took this to heart and made the switch. Now, our e-Winch comes standard with rollers, making it even more user-friendly.

Save power while not in use

Picture this: You've finished a day of fishing, parked the boat, and headed home. Then, a day or two later, you jump back on your boat only to discover the batteries are dead. Why? Because you forgot to switch off the fuses for all the electric machines onboard. It's a common slip-up, even the best of us make it, and we hear about it all the time.

So, why not design equipment that saves energy on its own? Is that too much to ask?

Turns out, it's not too much at all, and we've done just that. We've engineered our equipment with a super-efficient Sleep mode, this means, even if left in Sleep mode with that gentle red light blinking, your battery's charge barely dips below 50% after an entire year. And if you forget to activate Sleep mode but leave the Throttle turned all the way down, it'll pretty much have the same minimal drain on the battery.

So, if you ever find yourself waking up in a panic at night because you forgot to turn everything off, just roll over and go back to sleep. It's cool; we've got this handled.

Simplified controls - essential functions

With all the control layout options out there, we opted for something simple and intuitive. This way, you get a control setup that's easy to understand and use, without missing out on any essential features.

Safety is our number one concern with our smart control system. The throttle lets you adjust the speed for hauling in, while a quick press of the reverse button stops the sheaves immediately. Need to loosen the line a bit? Keep the button pressed, and it'll reverse slowly. But here’s a scenario: what if you let go of the reverse button, the throttle's still cranked up, and, to make things trickier, your hand is on or, even worse, tangled in the line? Would the machine just kick back into gear without a second thought?

No worries, we've got this covered. The machine won’t start hauling in again until you dial the Throttle back to the lowest setting. Once you do, the status indicator flips from yellow to green, signaling it's safe to haul in again.

And for those real tight spots, there's an Emergency STOP button. Hit it, and the machine brakes to a stop immediately, locking the sheaves and cutting all power to the motor and its driver. Safety first, always.

Sleek yet powerful

Just because the winch is electric doesn't mean its power is to be underestimated. If you're thinking of challenging it to a tug of war, think again—you won't win. The rule of thumb here is simple: if you can pull the line by hand, rest assured the e-Winch will handle it like a breeze, no sweat at all.

Tailored specifically for coastal fishing, this winch is a perfect match for line thicknesses ranging from 2mm to 6mm.

With its smart, energy-efficient operation, it's built to be a reliable workhorse in the demanding work environment at sea.

FAQ

Current models only works with 24V. We are working on a 12V version, but for now we recommend 2pcs of 12V batteries wired in series for best results. For a 12-24V converter, please contact us for more details.

The machine comes with built-in protection for temperature, over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, reverse polarity protection, and it is also watertight. The machine protects itself against harm.

While it’s not hauling in anything, it consumes around 5A at full speed. At full load it is limited to not go above 40A. We recommend cable size 10AWG/2.5mm/5mm^2.

We have made a demonstration video of Variant B tested, pulling a van with no effort. We have also tried stopping the can from moving, but it takes 2 guys to do any meaningful slowing down of it’s pulling force. You can check the video if you want a visual demonstration of it’s capibilities.

Please note that this is our smallest winch, it is designed primarily for costal fishing. If you are using lines thicker than 6mm, please contact us for evaluation.
